GOOD TO KNOW
Still unsure? Our tire experts are happy to help you choose.
Ask an ExpertOnly sizes approved for your vehicle. A new size should keep the overall diameter within about 3% of the original so your speedometer, ABS and stability control stay accurate. Check your owner's manual or ask us first.
Usually yes. Some performance cars use wider tires at the rear β this is called a staggered setup, and the door sticker will list both sizes.
No. Always match or exceed the load index and speed rating shown on your door sticker. A lower rating can be unsafe and may affect your insurance.
Find the DOT code on the sidewall. The last four digits are the week and year it was made β 2321 means the 23rd week of 2021. Most makers recommend replacing tires after 6β10 years, whatever the tread.
When the tread reaches the wear bars (1.6 mm, the legal minimum in most places), or earlier for wet and winter safety β around 3 mm is a good rule. Also replace tires with cracks, bulges or damage to the sidewall.
